What Therapies Do I Practice?

  • CBT is a goal-oriented psychotherapy that focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and related behaviors. I utilize multiple techniques and strategies in-session and with homework to help improve cognitive thought patterns, increase motivation, and explore beliefs that underly these difficulties.

  • DBT is a skills-based program that focuses on teaching strategies to help with intense emotions and related distress, impulsive and destructive behaviors, and difficulties with self-acceptance. DBT is a structured program with four modules focusing on mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness

Typically, I will review skills and concepts from DBT that will be helpful for clients new to DBT, and provide skills coaching and review the practice of DBT for current and graduates of skills groups.

If you are enrolled in a DBT skills group, I will coordinate with your group leaders to help personalize what I can provide in your understanding and practice of the program.

  • Specializing in addiction treatment, I provide a nonjudgmental space to explore your relationship with substances. Addiction is a disease of the brain

Clients wanting to find sobriety benefit from my experience guiding others in recovery practices and adherence, and understanding how to support their mental health as well. We can discuss engaging in 12-step programs, including what to expect and how to get the most out of their recovery community.

I also work with clients who are ambivalent about quitting or want to learn how to moderate their use. If appropriate, we can work to understand your motivations to changing your patterns of use and learn how to have a healthier relationship.

  • ACT encourages living in alignment with personal values through mindfulness and committed action. I utilize this therapy to help my clients learn how to utilize psychological flexibility through core practices and concepts from this program.

  • CPT is a structured treatment designed to help individuals recover from trauma by identifying and challenging unhelpful beliefs related to the traumatic event. I teach and review skills and strategies that reduces symptoms of PTSD by promoting more balanced and accurate thinking patterns.

  • Now a popular word in my field (for good reason), mindfulness can come in many forms and practices, and integrates effectively in the other therapies I practice. I help clients understand how mindfulness practice could be helpful for their struggles and difficulties, and coach them on their practice of mindfulness in daily life.

  • I offer couples therapy for new clients and for current clients wanting to discuss relationship-related issues.

In couples therapy, we openly explore communication patterns and underlying emotions to work towards building a stronger connection, and practical tools for navigating current and future challenges.

  • I offer and can provide structured supervision hours for clinicians working towards their full licensure, in the state of Georgia.

If you are an associate clinician (LMSW, LAPC, etc.) and looking to obtain supervision hours, or you are a clinician who would benefit from supervision focused on the therapies I practice, please feel free to reach out and start a discussion on how I can best supervise.
